Here are a couple of the main differences:
-GDS runs Windows XP OS. The Tool Plus runs Linux (this OS has limitations)
-GDS has the ability to have different windows open at the same time. Tool Plus does not.
-GDS has a higher resolution screen. The Tool Plus has a lower resolution screen.
-GDS is a much faster unit overall.
-The connection to the car with the Tool Plus is bluetooth. The GDS is hard wired.
-GDS has wifi and built in browser. Tool plus does not.
-GDS can be updated within the unit. No need to take out memory cards. Tool plus cannot be updated wthin the unit.
-GDS has expandable module ability (Labscope, Battery tester, sensor box etc). Tool plus does not.
-ALL OF THE LAUNCH X431 UNITS SHARE THE SAME VEHICLE COVERAGE.
Overall, the GDS is a better unit. By using a Windows XP OS, the GDS is expandable to future needs by adding modules and software.
