are these thin enough to fit side by side in parallel fuse slots

Some fuse boxes are tighter than others, but we have managed to install fuse loops next to each other in several configurations. Fuse loops install above/below each other may have a slight angle of insertion. Side by sides fuses should have no interferance. Of course, there will always be that one box that is an exception.
