No, this book covers 2005-2017 models. Security gateways were only in a few models prior to 2018.
Some 2017s like the Promaster and all 2018 and newer FCA Stellantis vehicles have a security gateway which restricts bidirectional control unless you use WiTech 2.0 or have a scan tool with an active Autoauth subscription. The scan tool must have 1) Internet connection when first communicating with the vehicle, 2) Active AutoAuth Subscription for Stellantis vehicles, 3) in most cases an active scan tool subscription to updates is necessary as well.
Without Autoauth, you can still access and clear codes via Generic OBD2 but you cannot clear codes or perform any bidirectional control in any module.
With Autoauth, you still cannot make any immobilizer changes (add/remove keys, all keys lost, etc)
Autoauth costs $50 per year for up to 5 scan tools. Additional scan tools can be added at a cost. There is a separate $50/yr subscription for Nissan as well. (2020+)
