will this clamp fit around a typical battery cable? (Current Probe, Low range, with BNC)

The jaw opening is 9mm, it will fit around some smaller battery cables but not most, and not if there are multiple cables from the terminal.

Another option with a larger jaw would be the ESI-695, which has a 13mm opening, but would require an adapter to connect to BNC.
