First you need to make sure the selector switch is set correctly to either 4-pin or 5-pin.
Make sure you have the tool connected to the appropirate voltatge for the relay (12V for a 12V realy, 24V for a 24V volt relay)
Press and HOLD the test button until the led turns green or red.
After testing the relay, if it fails, the red light will flash according to the trouble code list on the back of the instruction page or on the back of the unit.
If you have tested several known good relays and confirmed the unit is not testing accurately, you will have to call ESI tech support at 262.279.1400 or call us.
