I work at a gm dealership will this tool work with gm software in place of mdi (CarDAQ-M Kit for Reprogramming)

Yes, the cardaq M is compatible with GDS2, Tech2Win, and SPS software.

The GDS2 includes the Data Bus Diagnostic Tool, when used with MDI2 you can see voltage levels on the data bus, the CarDAQs and the Mongoose will not display voltage levels on the data bus,

The MDI2 is 100% compatible with the Data Bus Diagnostic Tool.

The CarDAQs and the MongoosePro GM II are only partially compatible with the Data Bus Diagnostic Tool, they will not display voltage levels on the data bus.
