It sounds like you’re asking if it is safe to install the uActivate in place of a relay that is controlled by a PCM.
As far as the relay control side of the circuit is concerned, when the uActiave is installed in the relay socket, the uActivate replaces the relay coil with a resistor and LED indicator and the answer is: Yes, it is it should be safe and it is bi-directional.
The main concern when judging application is the current level of the load portion of the circuit (30/87). The uActivate has a 15 amp thermal fuse. So, it can be used on circuits up to 15 amps. And for short periods, greater than 15 amps.
