The uTest Probes can pierce wires as small as 0 .5- .75mm, but you should to take extra effort to verify the wire is centered for the needle.
Although, the Pomona Probes (AES# PE-10) are shorter and fatter than the uTest Probes, the Pomonas feature the smallest diameter needle with a long tapered point and does a good job of centering the wire.
Whichever probe you use, have a wire repair kit on hand to repair the damaged wire.
